Daddy Design is proud to introduce our 3rd WordPress Plugin, WP Social Toolbar. This highly customizable plugin was created to showcase all of your social networks in one easy toolbar that is both eye-catching and functional.
WP Social Toolbar will display your latest tweet status, list your social networking profiles, and allow users to “Like” your page on Facebook, tweet about it on Twitter and Google +1 your page! With so many options for customization our toolbar will easily adapt to your WordPress theme’s style. Some of the customization options include; specifying colors, changing fonts, and rearranging your list of social network icons to your desired order. Check out some different examples of the WP Social Toolbar with custom combination’s below.
What other WordPress toolbar plugin allows you to do all of these things? We at Daddy Design saw the lack of form and functionality in toolbar plugins and have decided to develop our own. The WP Social Toolbar is ideal for every WordPress website or blog that cares about their social networking. Not convinced yet? Try it out on your blog!
Custom WP Social Toolbar Examples
Color Settings
As you saw above, you can change the colors of the WP Social Toolbar to help match the color spectrum of your site. Using the color wheel, you have the option to change the background color, border color, recent tweet background and social icon hover background. All of this is done through General Settings.
You can also change the color of your icons between black, white and gray for best color contrast.
Social Network Icon Settings
WP Social Toolbar (version 1.1) allows you to showcase 14 of the 24 social network icons that the plugin has to offer. You can also arrange the icons accordingly to your desired preference. This can be done under Social Profiles.
Available Icons: Apple, BeatPort, Bebo, Digg, Dribble, Facebook, Flickr, Foursquare, Hi5, iLike, Last.fm, LinkedIn, Meetup, MySpace, Ning, Orkut, Ping, ReverbNation, RSS, Skype, SoundCloud, Stumbleupon, Tumblr, Twitter, Vimeo, Xing, YouTube.
Recent Tweet Settings
The Recent Tweet Settings allow you to change the font family, color, and size.
Don’t want to display your recent tweet? You can simply turn it off in the Recent Tweet Settings (see above)! Below is an example of the WP Social Toolbar with the recent tweet turned off:
Share Settings
These settings are for the tweet and FB ‘Like’ buttons. There are two available options; always tweet and share your website’s homepage or tweet and share the current page.
NEW. We added Google +1 Share button now!
Display Settings
Another great feature about the WP Social Toolbar is that it does not have to be displayed throughout your entire site. In the Display Settings you are given the option to display it throughout the entire site, just on the home page, just on the archives, just on posts, or just on specific pages.

Download the WP Social Toolbar Plugin
Installation
- Upload the ‘wp-social-toolbar’ folder to the ‘/wp-content/plugins/’ directory.
- Activate the plugin through the ‘Plugins’ menu on WordPress.
- Adjust the custom settings on the WP Toolbar settings page.
- Insert all of your Social Network links on the “Social Profiles” page.
NOTES
Make sure to have:
<?php wp_footer();?>just before the closing body tag, usually this would be done in the “footer.php”.
Also make sure to have<?php wp_head(); ?>inside the head tags, usually this would be done in the “header.php”. Both of these functions are needed for most plugins to work because like ours, many plugins add javascript and html codes using these two functions.
If Error Reading Twitter Feed
Make sure your twitter account is not privacy protected.
Make sure Twitter is not down.
Reweet’s are having issues right now, we are trying to fix this.

Nice … any thought to adding tumbler?
We will be adding 5 more icons soon and will definitely consider Tumbler. Thank you for the suggestion.
Tumblr is added in version 1.1 now!
Amazing toolbar indeed, one of the best that I’ve seen.
I’d also be interested in seeing Tumblr, the demo below doesn’t seem to have it yet, but I’m loving the Google+ addition, very much needed!
Tumblr is located in the back end settings.
Hi, cool plugin, I just wonder what’s the “Apple” icon for?
Not really sure. We see it in tons of social icon sets. I think you can put in your apple profile page link? We will be adding itunes in the next set of icons.
Hi, I keep getting a problem in that the Twitter feed doesn’t work. It doesn’t grab Tweets from my account. What can be the problem? It says “Error Reading Twitter Feed” instead of actually displaying the Tweets
can you send me your link? Twitter sometimes has feed issues, has it not shown at all?
If you’re in China or any other country who blocked twitter.com, then the plugin is unable to grab new tweet for you.
Hi there, it’s a great plugin but I can’t seem to customise the colours and social profiles. I’ve made changes in settings and saved them but they don’t show.
HI, I see your color changes? It’s a light blue background? What are you seeing?
Thanks for the quick response, I was seeing black with all the icons but I can see the light blue now. Does it usually take a short while to update then? I cleared cache etc.
Anyhow, many thanks, I love this plugin
No, it usually updates right away, you probably are having little issues with cache. Maybe restart your CPU. We’re glad you love it!! Tell everyone about it
Also, you should do that darker blue for the hover color.
Agreed on the darker blue for hover colour

Hi there, any idea why I am getting an ‘error reading twitter feed’ ? Is there any settings I have missed?
thanks!
Hi Marco, are you getting it all the time? Sometimes twitter feeds have issues. Whats your link?
Hey Bro! Thanks a lot for the plugin, also i have a dude, i like so much this plugin, but im really cool if the toolbar is on the side of blog (right of left)… it can possible?
Thanks and incredible toolbar!
HI, yes we have plans for that in future. Right now we are just making sure this version is working perfect
Hey, nice plugin, i like that minimalistic design a lot
my only issue is that my wordpress is not installed on the root folder but on a folder called wordpress and when i try to save the modified settings for the bar it redirects me to a 404 page in which the adress does not contain my especific installation folder.
it goes to
/wp-admin/admin.php?page=wp-social-toolbar/wp_social_toolbar.php
when it should redirect me to
/wordpress/wp-admin/admin.php?page=wp-social-toolbar/wp_social_toolbar.php
How can i fix that?
Thanks in advance
i did fix it thankyou anyway i just modified the adress in options.php
glad you got it all figured out!
Everything is free and customizable?
I too had issues with my WordPress being installed in a sub-directory. I think I finally figured it out, but it would have been helpful to have some kind of walk-through or option. I’m sure others are having this issue as well. I would hate for people to quit using it for something as simple as this. Great plug-in!
Hey Joshua, we actually dont know this walk through. Would you be able to give a quick note on how you did this work around?
Very nice plugin! Was curious if it’s possible to connect the Facebook Like in the right hand corner to my Facebook fan page so that when people click it, they’re added as a fan on my Facebook page. That would be fantastic. Please let me know.
We will try to add this feature to a future release. Thank you for the recommendation.
I figured it out
I went to https://developers.facebook.com/docs/reference/plugins/like/ and generated new code for a like button, using my Facebook fan page as the URL to like. I then updated your wp-social-toolbar/wp_social_toolbar.php pluging file, replacing the code after $output.=’ …. Very happy with your plugin.
Nice, glad you figured that out. We will try to add that feature to plugin settings soon. I’m happy you like the plugin! Can we see your website link?
Michelle, how exactly did you do this? what code did you replace with what?
What you do to let the plugin modify the options if you have wordpress installed on a sub directory is:
Go to plugins -> Editor -> Select Wp Socialbar from the dropmenu
Select the file: wp-social-toolbar/includes/social_profiles.php
Look for this piece of code:
Add your installation directory into the address of redirection.
Then do the same for the other options file which is: wp-social-toolbar/includes/options.php
then go to the plugins options and modify as you would like it to show on your web.
We have fixed the original path issue in version 1.1 now!
Hello,
I love the toolbar, but I can only get the first social profile to appear in the tab. For example, if I have six social profiles selected to appear, only the first one will appear on my site. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
Hey Neil, check your email. this is a weird issue we have not heard yet. I am looking into it.
my first time visiting this blog, after I read some article that was published as a whole is very interesting & nice
Hey daddydesign! thanks a lot for this awesome plugin, which comes as a great alternative to meebo bar and the wibiya bar too
…i have a question! …is there a way i can resize down the toolbar? it looks rather big in my website and kinda distracting if u ask me
…thanx a lot! oh btw, maybe in future releases we can have a chat feature too ^^
Hey Daniel, We will take those 2 ideas in consideration on future releases. Right now we are making sure all bugs are fixed and then we will start adding new features. BTW, it looks very nice on your site
Thanks a lot guys
the site is still in process! just added a few “dumb” posts to see how things look
hoping to see the new features soon
Hi, I have an awesome little button (currently called the “media center”) that drops down and displays different media (videos, audio, photos, etc.). I love your plugin, but when I activate it the media center button stops working (stops dropping down). When I deactivate the plugin, it works fine. Any suggestions/ideas? Please help. Thanks!
Hey George, We have a new version coming out very soon. Not sure if it will fix your issue (as we have not dealt with yours yet) but please let us know if it fixes it.
Loved it.. but i had one issue that i could’t fix… and thats why i’m not using the bar right now. When someone likes a post, the image that goes to facebook is not the one i put on og:image, but some random image from the bar.. like a circle for example… Any one having the same issue?
Hey Bruno, Are you sure you put in the correct og:image code in your headers? Have you used a like button in your post before with it showing the correct thumb? We will look into this issue.
Yeah, i’m using a like button right now that works, with the correct thumb…
Is it possible to put the bar on the side? Because I have a chat bar on the footer.
Not yet, we will have this option in future versions.
i was wondering if there was a way to put the tollbar on top of my site?
We will have this option in future versions.
If I close the toolbar, it will never allow me open it again on my blog (it works on your site), check out my site to see this bug.
i also have twitter feed errors… hmmm
Hi Rika, You have a twitter error because your latest tweet is a retweet. We are trying to figure out why retweet’s dont show up.
retweet issue is now fixed, upgrade to version 1.2
I installed the WP social toolbar into wordpress.org When i go to edit the plugin i dont see a general setting tap or area to make the changes to the color, etc. what am i doing wrong?
Hi Greg, See if you can get there by this path. Where wordpress is installed /wp-admin/admin.php?page=wp-social-toolbar/wp_social_toolbar.php and /wp-admin/admin.php?page=wpsocialtoolbar_social_icons
On iPad works great on load, but doesn’t scroll so ends up living in the middle of a scrolled screen.
Any tips to fix?
Apart from that… great plugin!
Yes, we are currently working on a fix to hide it on ipad.
It is now removed on ipad. upgrade to version 1.2
How about a paid version without the “dd”?
We are working on it as we speak. With many more cool features.
great job! missing only a translation button , i hope you are working on it.
Hi there, is there any way to have the bar appear on top of the page rather then at the very bottom?
HI, we are working on that for the pro version..
anyway we could either reduce or delete your own signature –it seems almost more eyecatching than the toolbar itself.
also I hadn’t realized i activated the toolbar, and you got 66 tweets from my readers. i don’t think i have a whole lot of wordpress ppl following me,…it almost looks like the “like” button is about the toolbar.
We are in the works of a PRO version that will have our signature removed. Also, the like button count is how many likes you have for that actual wordpress page or home page.
