What is truly unexpected is how a determined girl from Romania could arrive in New York City and succeed without knowing a soul. “I had no relatives and friends but I liked the crowds,” she says. “It was hard to feel lonely.” Mirona describes herself as “happy, optimistic and disciplined,” and as one might expect of a girl who was brave enough to venture unaccompanied and unannounced to the creative capitol of the world, “not shy.”
